Meet the Artist

Robin Nelson

I believe that the objects we use every day should bring a moment of pause and beauty to our routines. Based in my home studio in Wisconsin, I specialize in functional ceramics that celebrate the tactile nature of clay.

My journey with pottery began as a lifelong obsession with creativity, earning my Studio Arts Degree in 1998, developing my craft, teaching, and as a creative arts advocate. Today, every piece is a product of my experiences and a labor of love—thrown on the wheel, trimmed, and glazed by hand. I find inspiration in the nature surrounding me and the way a coffee mug feels in two hands on a cold morning.

In a world of mass production, I’m proud to offer something intentional. When you hold one of my pieces, you aren't just holding a vessel; you’re holding hours of experimentation, a bit of the earth, and a piece of my creative heart.

Thank you for supporting small-scale art and bringing my work into your home.

Daily Care

  • Washing: While my pieces are Dishwasher Safe | Hand-wash is Recommended washing by hand with mild soap is the best way to maintain the glaze's luster over time.

  • Micro-crazing: Avoid leaving dark liquids (like tea or red wine) in unglazed or crackle-glazed areas for extended periods to prevent staining.

  • Microwave: Safe but avoid "Power Reheating" for more than 2 minutes.

  • Thermal Shock: Ceramics don't like sudden temperature swings. Avoid pouring boiling water into a freezing cold mug, or placing a chilled plate directly into a hot oven.

A Note on Handmade Art

  • Slight variations in size, texture, and glaze are not flaws—they are the "fingerprints" of the maker. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.
